I've begun to notice a pattern. Every time I log onto Adcritic, the experience starts out well. I usually get at least one laugh out loud, and if I'm lucky a "s!@# I wish I'd thought of that!" But after about 3 minutes, I start realizing something that makes me very uncomfortable. In 99% of the credits, the writer is a man.
I've always prided myself on being the kind of gal who didn't pay attention to numbers. I do what I do and eventually someone will (hopefully) like it or get it and then I'll be set. But as I inch closer to a real career, I'm getting nervous that this isn't the case.
What is the reason behind the dichotomy between male and female writers, and why are we so under-represented?
