I had no idea Spanx was a BILLION-dollar company. Nor did I know that there is just one woman who started it all and basically grew it all by herself. Sara Blakely has an awesome story about having a great idea and seeing it through--and then some.

Sara is now on the Forbes Billionaires list and their cover story on her is a really great piece I recommend reading. Or check out what she has to say below.

My favorite takeaway: (paraphrasing) Don't shop your idea early on to people (namely family and friends) just for the sake of getting validation. Out of love for you they will likely be voices of reason and caution which can hold you and your idea back. Amen to that.
