Ellen Steinberg
Group Creative Director
McKinney
Ellen began her advertising career as an Art Director at New York’s Korey Kay & Partners in 1990. She continued on to Weiss Whitten Carroll Stagliano (also New York) and eventually to Fallon McElligott (Minneapolis), where she spent five long, blustery years. After leaving Fallon, Ellen spent several years freelancing––at Fallon. And Wieden. Cliff Freeman. And many other agencies in and out of the tri-state area, including Australia, Turkey and the Netherlands.
Ellen rejoined Fallon (New York, this time) as Creative Director from 2002-3. Back when there were only a handful of female creatives in the business. These days, she finds herself as Group Creative Director at McKinney, down in North Carolina.
Ellen’s account roster includes Conseco Insurance, Jim Beam Bourbons, Lee Jeans, Miller Lite, Escada, Nikon, Sony, Sports Illustrated, BMW, Time Magazine and USA Network. Not to mention a few now-defunct dotcoms—to which she assumes no responsibility.
Ellen’s work has been featured in the One Show, Cannes, D&AD, the Kelly’s, Communication Arts and other impressive high-gloss publications. She has twice served as a jury member for the One Show and several of the industry’s top award shows.
When not garnering an advertising paycheck, Ms. Steinberg enjoys travel, photography, poetry, stone sculpture and her now fruitful side-gig: marrying people. Six couples have been ushered into the marital institution by Reverend Steinberg (“Father Ellen”, to her victims). To date, there are no divorces pending.
